A Chilean artist named Jorge Selarón spent more than two decades covering 215 stairs between Lapa and Santa Teresa with over 2,000 ceramic tiles sent from 60 countries. He once described it as 'a never-ending work that will only end on the day of my death.' Today it's one of the city's most photographed corners — and still surprisingly easy to enjoy in the early morning quiet.
